France has added Tunisia, Mozambique, Cuba and Indonesia to its travel red list.
The government has also relaxed travel rules for people entering a red country who are fully vaccinated with a vaccine recognized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Accepted vaccines are Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson.
These vaccinated travelers will no longer need to have an essential reason to go to France, nor to take a pre-departure Covid test or quarantine on their arrival in France.
They will only need to provide proof of their vaccination status and a sworn statement declaring that they have no symptoms related to Covid or have recently been in contact with a person with Covid-19.
People from countries on the red list who are not fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with a vaccine recognized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) will still have to present an essential reason for traveling to France.
The main reasons are mainly linked to the right to live and work in France.
A full list of the reasons can be found at this link.
Travelers not fully vaccinated from Red List countries should also:
Perform a 10-day self-isolation period upon your arrival in France. There will be random police checks to make sure you follow this. You must provide the travel authorities and / or border agents with proof of the address where you will be staying in France.
Present to the carrier and to the border control authorities a negative PCR or antigen test dated less than 48 hours before departure (departure of the first flight in case of connection). Children under the age of twelve are exempt from testing.
Complete a sworn statement attesting to the absence of symptoms of Covid-19 and contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19
Confirm your acceptance of a possible antigen test or a biological screening examination for Covid-19 which will be carried out on your arrival in mainland France
The French government has said that despite the easing measures for vaccinated travelers from red countries, it continues to strongly advise against travel to red list countries.
