MAPUTO, August 22, 2021 (WAM) – Khalid Ibrahim Abdul Aziz Shuhail Al Qahtani, UAE Ambassador to Mozambique, recently met Augusta de Fátima Charifo Maita, Minister of Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries of Mozambique, where they held discussed topics of common interest.

During the meeting, which was held at the premises of the ministry, Al Qahtani highlighted the close UAE-Mozambique ties and promising opportunities for cooperation in the maritime field.

The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates welcomed the participation of the Mozambican Ministry of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries in Expo 2020 Dubai, considering it an opportunity to present the products Mozambique in global markets and attract investment.

Maita, in turn, expressed the ministry’s wish to benefit from the UAE’s experiences in various areas the ministry is interested in, especially in the area of ​​fisheries. She also highlighted the ministry’s preparations, in coordination with the private sector, to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai to showcase Mozambique’s marine wealth potential.

She also invited Al Qahtani to participate in the second session of the “Blue Economy” conference, which will be hosted by Mozambique in November 2021.
